Company Profile

Seashells Care and Support Services ('Seashells') is a private company. Seashells is registered with the CSSIW as a domiciliary care provider.

Seashells has private 'service-users', and also works on behalf of Conwy Borough local authority. Being a private company, we charge for our services. It is up to the individual to seek help through their own local authority regarding assistance with funding (very often Social Services).

The company manages itself from its Area Office in Craig-Y-Don, Llandudno, Conwy. The company's Managing Directors are Stuart Own and Mark Jones. Stuart is registered with the CSSIW as our 'Responsible Individual' and is based at our Area Office.

Services We Provide

Seashells provides its services throughout the coastal area of the county of Conwy, North Wales: from Llandudno in the north, Glan Conwy in the south, Llanfairfechan in the west, and Abergele in the east. The provision of care and support is flexible, and is assessed on the needs of the individual 'service-user'. We provide personal care and support to service-users in their own home (either living with their family or on their own). Our service can assist in supporting a service-user to access a range of community facilities, specific interests, hobbies or activities, whether educational, social or purely leisure.

An agreement between the service-user and/or their care manager will define the type of care and/or support we will provide.

All staff are trained specifically to care and support people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments or challenging behaviours.

We aim to provide the following services:

  • personal care assistance with getting in and out of bed (this may require the involvement of two staff members);

  • personal care assistance with the maintenance of personal hygiene - including washing, bathing, showering, shaving, using the toilet (including assistance with incontinence aids);

  • personal care assistance with eating and drinking;

  • personal care assistance with physical health needs such as taking medication or accompanying the service user to appointments;

  • practical support such as preparing and cooking meals, cleaning, laundry and shopping;

  • practical support in social tasks such as writing a letter, reading, dealing with finances and bills, being a liaison with family and friends, or just general assistance with hobbies;

  • the promotion of skills and independence in the above areas.

The support to service users who require assistance to access community facilities and/or take part in leisure or social activities may include:

  • accessing educational facilities such as college courses;

  • accessing leisure and recreational facilities such as sporting activities, cinema, theatre, library, art and music courses and activities;

  • accessing vocational and employment opportunities such as work placements, job centres and skill for work training, open employment;

  • enabling religious observation and cultural activities;

  • maintaining and developing social networks;

  • the promotion of skills and independence in the above areas.

Rehabilitation & Respite Care

We are able to support service-users in managing any agreed rehabilitation plans. We can assist with independence or domestic skills, such as enabling a service-user to move within the community following a lengthy stay in an institution. We can also offer provision of relief care for the main carer, possibly a partner or other family member, be it for a few hours or carrying out sleep-over's.
